Scientific activities of Tbilisi University “Metekhi” is characterized by the constant development. Considering the Georgian regulations and innovations and international experience, “Metekhi is the beacon of the innovative challenges in the scientific area. The scientific activities of the university have been conducted by the vice-rector Prof. Jaba SAMUSHIA.

The scientific research of the university is concentrated on the two domains: leading PhD programs and scientific researches. In the post soviet countries such scientific research institutions are under reforms, many developed countries cannot afford themselves financing such institutions. As a result, the new tendentious, leading to the creation of mobility scientific laboratories, groups and labs within the university, have appeared. The existence of these groups is more beneficial and has a practical meaning for students. Besides, this system is more attractive for the state itself, as for the funding institution, and for the scientists.

Tbilisi University “Metekhi” is going to create scientific research centers for the disciplines leading to economics and jurisprudence. The centers will be based on the grant programs on the national and international levels.

Structure of scientific centers emphasizes the creation of short-term scientific laboratories (about 3-5 years). The group of scientists will work on the particular theme and after the successful implementation of the scientific project and a new group of scientists will continue working on different themes.

At present a number of the professors have been invited from different higher educational institutions at “Metekhi”. According to the vice-rector of the university leading the scientific department, Prof. Jaba SAMUSHIA, the priority of the university will be to create itself the base of the university scientific personnel.

The students at the university have the possibility to participate at least once a year in the university conferences. The University publishes scientific journals and annual scientific brochures with the essays and scientific works of students and academic staff.
The students and the university professors are the beneficiaries of different international and regional conferences. In April, 2010 “Metekhi” participated in the international conference” Quality and Profession”.

The University cooperates with The Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation (Florence, Italy) and the agreement covers joint workshops and conferences. In 2008 under the aegis of Tbilisi University “Metekhi” the international conference “Tomas Eliot and Italian culture” was held. The conference was organized by the Professor of Tbilisi University “Metekhi” Temur KOBAKHIDZE (Georgia) and The Professor of San Jose State University – Paul DOUGLASS ( CA, USA.)

Also in February, 2010 Florence hosted the student workshop “Children will resolve the parents’ errors” dedicated to the international conflicts and their peaceful resolution. The conference was organized by the rector of Tbilisi University “Metekhi” –Prof. Dr. Manon KIRTBAIA; Professors of the Tbilisi University “Metekhi” and experts of Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation Prof. Tamaz KANDARELI and Prof. Dr. Temur KOBAKHIDZE.

At the same time “Metekhi” is actively involved in Georgian and European scientific space and the university intends to develop and reinforce its scientific activities
